Waiting Game

I haven't updated in a long time. Well last cycle was a bust. I was four days late but my HCG level was <2. Anything <5 is negative. This cycle I took Clomid 50mg for 7 days. I went in for an ultrasound last Saturday. I had two follicles, 17 and 18. On Sunday they were 20 and 21. On Monday they were 23 and 24.5 and I got a shot of HCG. I thought I'd be lucky enough to get the shot in my arm; I was wrong. On Tuesday we had an IUI (Intrauterine insemination). Dave had to go in early for his part of the procedure :) Then we went back a few hours later for the actual insemination. First I had an ultrasound that showed one of the follicles already ovulated, the other was 24. The whole thing was over pretty quick then I just had to lay there for 5 minutes, which really was more like 10 because they forgot to bring in a timer. I started back on the Progesterone the next day and now we just wait. And wait and wait and wait. We will reach the one year mark of trying before we know if this cycle worked. Never thought it would take this long. I'll have a pregnancy test right before Thanksgiving. It will either be one of the best holidays, or one of the worst.

It is so good to read about others and their journey to motherhood. My husband and I went in for our first IUI on the 7th. Two good eggs were detected (25 each) and the doc said the sperm used was excellent (24million!!). I don't know how much better the outlook could be but if we do not conceive I will be extra worried. AF is due on the 20th so I know how you feel about the holidays and good or bad news making or breaking it. I wish you all the best and hope to see a "positive" journal entry in a few weeks!!!
