Lightning
I just finished my first Dean Koontz novel, Lightning. It came highly recommended from Jenn.
For me personally, it was a little slow getting started. Once the main schtick of the book was revealed, I started getting into it though. There is definately an interesting twist to it. All in all, not a bad book. I was getting caught up in it as it progressed faster and faster towards the end. I can't say too much about it without spoiling the premise.

I can say for certain that i have read every single book he's written under the Dean Koontz, Dean R. Koontz an Dean Ray Koontz. I've also read most of his other books under pseudodyms that havent been re-released under a DRK name.
Hmm... funny, cos the first books i read by him was Lightning (in 1997 when i was in Ghana)... the time travel one aint it?
Got me hooked till date.. and i've pre-ordered The Face. (coming soon)

Lightning still stands as my favorite Dean Koontz book. It wasn't the first one I read, but it's the one I enjoyed the most and I went back for a 2nd (and I think 3rd) read. I think it was about 10 years ago and reading this entry makes me want to pull it out again. The ending was surprising enough that it got me the first time, but it wasn't so out-there that it didn't make sense.

If you're getting into Koontz, check out Hideaway... excellent read (it's also a movie with Jeff Goldblum, but nowhere near as good as the book). I'd also recommend Dark Rivers Of The Heart.
